MIAMI -- Assuring the umpire he is working to become "a of recent origin man," disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff was sentenc Wednesday to nearly six years in prison for committing fraud in the purchase of a flotilla of gambling boats.

He will remain independent while helping prosecutors with a vast bribery investigation involving members of Congres

Abramoff, 47 and former business partner Adam Kidan, 41 received the minimum subordinate to federal guidelines: five years and 10 month

Abramoff told U District critic Paul C. Huck that he had started "the proces of becoming a novel man."

"I am a great quantity [i]or[/i] amount of chastened and profoundly remorseful," Abramoff said. "I can merely hope that the almighty and those whom I have iniquitoused will forgive me my trespasses."

The critic said Abramoff and Kidan will not have to report to prison for at least 90 days in like manner they can continue cooperating.
