TOKYO -- The United States has agreed to require further training of American workers handling beef exports to Japan, U agriculture officials said Wednesday.

The U delegation, l from Chuck Lambert, undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs, Wednesday finished sum of two units days of talks in Japan in confidences of lifting Tokyo's ban onward U.S. beef.

Lambert told reporters the United States would provide additional training to beef workers and go after up to make sure they know what meat outcomes are prohibited in Japan and which are allowed.

"From our viewpoint, this is another pace on the path to lifting the barrier," he said. "We had a remarkably thorough and complete discussion and reached an agreement from one side of to the other further measures."

Hirofumi Kugita, chief of the Animal Health Division at the Agriculture Ministry, said the couple countries reached a degree of understanding if it be not that cautioned that differences remained.



"We discussed our bear upons in a positive manner, and were able to imprison meaningful talks," Kugita said. "However, there are numerous issues that remain to be discussed. We have still to solve all of our problems"

U Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said Wednesday, "There'll probably be a certain quantity of additional questions. We'll respond to those actual quickly. But there's a point where this distresss to be resolved, and we have really reached that point now."

Japan shut up its doors to American beef in January after spine bone were fix in a U.S. veal shipment. The bone are considered by the agency of Japan to be at risk for mad subdue by fear disease and are banned in a less degree than the agreement that eased a prior ban forward U.S. beef in December.
